: சர்வதேச அளவில் பிரபல இஸ்லாமிய பெண் எழுத்தாளர் மற்றும் அறிஞராக விளங்கிய மரியம்
ஜமீலா இன்று (31.10.2012) லாகூரில் மரணமடைந்தார். சில மாதமாக நோயினால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டிருந்த
மரியம் ஜமீலா தன்னுடைய 78வது வயதில் இன்று காலமானார்.

23, 1934 ஆம் ஆண்டு அமெரிக்க தலைநகர் நியூயார்க்கில் உள்ள ஒரு யூத குடும்பத்தில் பிறந்த
மார்கரெட் மார்கெஸ் எனும் இயற்பெயர் கொண்ட மரியம் ஜமீலா தன்னுடைய 19வது வயதிலிருந்து
மதங்களை குறித்து ஆராய தொடங்கினார். மர்மடுகே பிக்தாலால் ஆங்கிலத்தில் மொழி பெயர்க்கப்பட்ட
திருக்குரானும் யூதராக இருந்து இஸ்லாத்தை தழுவிய முஹம்மது அஸதின் புத்தகங்களும் தாம்
மரியம் ஜமீலாவை இஸ்லாத்தை நோக்கி ஈர்த்தன.

24, 1961ஆம் ஆண்டு இஸ்லாத்தை ஏற்று கொண்ட மரியம் ஜமீலா தென் ஆப்பிரிக்காவில் இருந்து
வெளியாகும் முஸ்லீம் டைஜஸ்டில் எழுத தொடங்கினார். அதே பத்திரிகைக்கு எழுதி கொண்டிருந்த
ஜமாத்தே இஸ்லாமியின் நிறுவனர் மவுலானா சையது அலா மெளதூதியின் எழுத்துகளில் தன்னை பறி
கொடுத்தார் மரியம் ஜமீலா.
மெளதூதியின்
அறிவுரையின் பேரில் பாகிஸ்தானுக்கு 1962ல் சென்று மெளலானாவின் வீட்டோடு தன்னை இணைந்து
கோண்டார். பின் பு முஹமது யூசுப் கான் என்பவருக்கு இரண்டாம் தாரமாக தானே முன் வந்து
மணமுடித்து கொண்டார்.
